Feeling tired and lacking energy? Asking this question will help.

I’ve had a tiring week.

We are in the last stages of buying a house and it has been a long and draining process. An experience which has severely tested my patience as we have tried to negotiate and cooperate with some quite difficult and unpleasant people.

I imagine you don’t need to think too far into the past to find your own ‘tiring week’.

But as I sat this morning with my anger, all my irritations and my tiredness I was prompted to think about an old video I watched a number of years ago that asked a really important question ‘What drains your tank?’.

The idea of the video was simple but really powerful.

There are two types of activities and experiences we have. There are those that drain and deplete us. For me that includes big groups of people, long meetings and not getting my own way. Your list will probably be quite different. (Interestingly what depletes one person can have quite a different affect on another). There are also activities and experiences that fill our tank and energise us. For me that’s long walks, quiet reading, discovering new ideas and a conversation with someone who is a good listener.

When you are tired and feeling low on energy it is important for you to do three things.
