When I first started on Medium I just looked at views and got excited when it went it.

As I grew in confidence I started to focus on the read rate and this has been invaluable.

It's helped me improve as a writer. Better introductions increased my read rate.

It has also helped me find my niche (helping new writers) by revealing which of my articles readers loved the most.

My advice - but brave and work with your read rate.
