Why having a brilliant plan isn’t enough

I was so excited to start investing in property. What could possibly go wrong?

I’d done loads of learning on all the different strategies. Picked the one suited to my goals and skills. Tested my plan with a small investment. I was ready to go for it.

I didn’t know I was heading into despair.

When I bought my third property I discovered two huge costs. I didn’t expect this. Suddenly my profits didn’t look so good. It was going to be much harder to grow a large portfolio.

It felt like my huge property dream has burst. I slumped into despair. I’d devoted 4 years to this dream. Couldn’t see how it would come true now.

Then I remembered a gem of an idea from Rolf Dobelli which totally changed my perspective.

To explain his brilliant insight I’ll need to talk about a plane’s flightpath

You are never on the right path

You are on a plane flying from London to New York.

How much of the time do you think the plane sticks to its flight path? 90% of the time? 75%? Maybe as low as 50%?
